Historical Crisis Committee: The North Atlantic Treaty Conference

Welcome to year 1949, four years have passed since the end of World War 2 and the entire World is in disarray after the establishment of the Soviet Union. World is now being drifted into a war between ideologies and military advancement.  Europe is divided between the two ideologies and almost all nations within Europe are rubble and dust. In year 1948 Soviet Union casually sponsored a coup and helped overthrow the Czechoslovakian government to embed their own communist regime. Western forces did not take this lightly. They quickly arranged a meeting between 12 western nations to create a pact that could withstand the power of the Soviet Union. These 12 western Powers included; USA, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway and Portugal. US foreign policy was continuously shifting to create a solid frontier against the Soviets, thus US decided to remain neutral and send aid to both Turkey and Greece, even though there was an immense dispute. For the good of all, most to-be-member states had to make sacrifices. Considering they did not know back then that the Korean War was coming up, the timing for the establishment of NATO was impeccable. It is now your job to shape the future of the world by deciding upon the basis of NATO and create a pact that is capable of withstanding the might of the Soviet Union.
